Pe 231 recovering ...

  • Hi

First, sorry but I don't understand anything of german language, I hope you understand me if I write in english ..

I'm a owner of an old PE 231 and I've begun to restore this turntable (I have a little pending account with it since few years ..). Well, this is another question.
I'm interested to know if it's possible to adapting one PE Musical 50's tonearm in my PE 231 (it was broken) because it seems to large for the record play right angle. If somebody has restored some PE turntable with other PE pieces, can know if this could be a real success. Can you help me ???

I'll try to explain all the process of recover. Please note me if it's the right place for do it.

    Thank for ear me ..

    Regards

  • Hallo,

welcome at the DUAL PE Board.

First of all please send some photos if it´s possible. I don´t know the PE 231, only the PE 238.

After having seen the photos I will try to give you an answer.

    Regards

    Norbert

  • Hi noko,

Thanks for your answer. I'll try to do a photoalbum because my PE 231 it's disassembled, but I'll recover for give us an idea as it is. First af all, I'll explain a little history about it.
I was not considered in this post that my PE is an old record player that was built in Spain, and sorry for this.
This was numbered with serial number 235 and chalkwrited into it and manufactured in Barcelona. It's a really portable model. It includes a 1,5 V battery box in the rear and this is not habitual in this systems (know it for me, of course!)
This player belonged to my aunt when she was young. And was a great party performer few years ago. I know its existence since I was a child. I have tried to date but I think it's impossible, I calculate that was bought near 1967 but it could be a wrong year.
Before I disassembled it working right, but with some wrong adjustements.

Tomorrow will continue ... and will post the photos I have in this moment ..

And nice you answer me ..

  • Hi again,

Here it is .. the photos ... I hope you can identify the player. But I will rebuild completely for better identification. It's possible that it was built only in my country, and it was different than german buildings.

    Regards .. more soon ..

    Alfred

  • Hi Chris,

Thanks for your answer. I've seen a similar PE in ebay from a spain seller but he retired his auction before I could bidding. But even PE was so identical, his PE included an external amplifier.
The parts that I need, if you have seen the photos, the back electrical rack is very damaged, and I have not a tonearm. Basically in the beginning that's all. Respect to the rack, I've thinkining to rebuild entirely from scracth due to the real difficulty for finding this special part. So the tonearm, I have a PE Musical 50 (with tube valve), and will extract the tonearm but It's a pity do that ...

If you can tell me something more about, please will be thankful eternally ;)

    Thanks again ..

    Alfred

  • the tonearm is not the same as musical 50!!!
musical 50 has pe66 changer, pe31 has a smaller only for single play!!

if you want i send you the tonearm of pe31. please give me your adress by pn

  • Hi again,

My PE 231 loudspeaker was completely damaged for the year's passage. The paper cone was broken, and I don't know if could be repaired. I'm hefting the possibility to acquire a Jensen one (vintage models) that can be adapted to the PE case and evidently painted in the same grey.
    Somebody knows another alternative ??

I'll tell us how as the things go .... ;)

    Thanks and regards,

    Alfred
